World-Building Blueprint

The exact details to include in your realms, citadels, and dimensions.

World-building fails when authors describe geography instead of culture. Readers do not care that your Northern Realm is 300 miles wide. They care that its people greet each other by touching foreheads because warmth is sacred in the cold.

Build your world from the inside out: start with one family in one village and ask what their daily life looks like, what they fear, what they celebrate. Then zoom out to the city, the kingdom, the continent. Every location needs a sensory signature: what does it smell like? What is the ambient sound? What color is the light at noon? Your Codex is perfect for this.

Create a Location entry for every major setting and fill it with these sensory details. When you write a scene, pull from that entry. Your readers will feel they have been there..
